Touch in Tianjin
Tianjin rugby started off as a small group of people in the Tanggu/TEDA district of the city on a Sunday afternoon, playing a little touch rugby to justify drinking beer on a Sunday evening. It got going nearly twelve months ago and now has three feeder teams forming the Tianjin Touch Rugby Club. The club was formulated to provide the expat and local communities the opportunity to play rugby and to learn more about the sport.
The three teams are dispersed around the city, the teams are formed from the community in TEDA, Tianjin city and Tianjin sports university. TEDA and Tianjin teams are mainly expat people with a few local Chinese people but the sports university is all local Chinese students. The emphasis is to have fun and get a little fitter in a safe and friendly environment. We have about 45 members so far and we are hoping to expand this by increasing the number of events that we become involved in.
Game Time:
The teams play on a Sunday afternoon times vary and are sent out to the participants by email and SMS. We also organise a training session on a Wednesday evening which starts at 6.30pm at the TEDA International School on 3rd Avenue.
